Petition 1 – Lord Mayor – Western Suburbs Sustainable Transport Options

To: the Honourable Lord Mayor of Brisbane
The petition of residents of Brisbane draws to the attention of the Lord Mayor of Brisbane, the appalling
traffic congestion on the suburban roads leading to the Centenary Highway which requires smart, healthy,
low pollution, sustainable transport responses to be developed in partnership with the Queensland
Government. Your petitioners therefore request government to immediately plan and publicly consult for
sustainable transport solutions which will address traffic congestion in a way which minimises further
harmful air and carbon pollution.
Chief petitioner: Ngaire McGaw, PO Box 1066, Oxley Q 4075

Jason Love
Michelle Love
Henrik Maier  Public and alternative transport will not be attractive to the broader community until appropriately funded and usable infrastructure exists. This is an opportunity for a real change to make sustainable transport options more \"convenient\" than to use the car.
Dorotee Braun  I strongly agree with this comment: Please put council funding behind your vision of Brisbane as a sustainable city by implementing innovative, sustainable transport options for the Centenary Suburbs. Many of us are eager to embrace active, sustainable transport for our own health and the health of our environment. We need the infrastructure to make such sustainable transport a viable option. Bike paths separate from the roads is the ultimate goal too.
Aline Ferre  More bikepaths separate from the road and communication to drivers to remind them they are sharing the road with us.
Richard Gardiner  More active transport and cheap public transport options please. Not multi-billion dollar tunnels!
Louise Orr  I catch a bus into the city every morning. It doesn\'t matter whether I take the Moggill/Coronation Road route or the Moggill/Centenary/Milton Road route - either way is grindingly slow after 7 am. The buses do their best to be on time - difficult when all roads are virtually at a crawl. The GoCard system has the potential to provide cheap and efficient public transport. The last thing we need is more cars or more roads - we need to build on our existing public and active transport systems and make them faster, safer and more efficient. Please consider innovative solutions to this issue - a CBD congestion tax (it\'s working in London!), dedicated school buses (ie take the school traffic off the road), dedicated busways, etc.
Wayne Barclay
Blake Barrett  More bike rack, storage at Rail and Bus Interchanges needed NOW!
k ellaby  I have signed this once before, but forgot to add that transport to/from school is ridiculous. There are 6 primary, 6 high schools and lots of childcares within 4 km of my home. Congestion is non-existent on school holidays, even with massive road works along Lutwyche and Gympie roads. A school bus system would reduce peak hour congestion and make life simpler for parents. Currently, the council bus system (we catch the 379 from Lutwyche to Grange) is so unreliable that it is simpler for me to walk my son 2km to school and know that we will be on time. The way the buses are timetabled, we can either choose to be 50 minutes early, or risk being 10 minutes late, neither is acceptable. It is also unsafe for younger children to catch the bus unaccompanied, so parents must ride with their children, resulting in 4 bus trips a day, for the adult, (if they are lucky enough to not to change buses). Factoring in time spent waiting for buses, and walking to bus stops, it can take 2 hours to get to school and back, which is only a 4km round trip. Times this by twice a day, 5 days a week, no wonder people drive. (In the car it takes 20 minutes, to walk it takes an hour.) A dedicated school bus would ensure children could travel safely and be dropped directly to school, not too early and not too late. BTW, I have to congratulate BCC on the Gocard, it really does work out cheaper, for people like me who catch a lot of buses. Especially when the machine isn\'t working and the bus driver just waves us on without charging us.
Krystelle Ellaby  Please make Brisbane more pedestrian friendly. For example, slower speed limits, wider pathways, more zebra crossings, covered bus stops every 500m-700m and more shade trees. Please stop building car based infrastructure, such as tunnels and bridges. They encourage fossil fuel use. Bridges, tunnels and highways are not long term investments. Fossil fuels are petering out. In fifty years time there will be very few people able to afford the luxury of driving, and very few government bodies able to afford the maintenance on these megastructures. It\'s a waste of time, money and effort that could be better spent on transitioning and rearranging our cities, to rely less on fossil fuels.
Jane Ahern  I support the ideas in this petition, and also incentives for city-based businesses to promote and support flexible working hours and work-at-home arrangements to reduce the numbers of people needing to travel to and from the city at peak times.
John Rogers  I strongly support this.
Elizabeth Weston
Jeremy Webb  The current auto based transport system cannot be sustained if we are to keep global warming levels below 2 degrees. We should understand that one third of the C02 emitted by a car over a 10 year life is caused by its manufacture.
Justin Smith  There needs to be more incentive for people to take public transport. For example, something like, if you\'re using a go-card, then subsequent trips within a short period of time (a week say) could become cheaper each trip (and would stay as cheap as you\'re frequency....eg 1st day - $2, 2nd - $1.75, 3rd - $1.50, 4th - $1.30, 5th - $1.20, etc, etc
Holly Cottingham  It is time to make a smart choice about the future of Brisbane\'s transport. No more pointless bridges or tunnels, we need a system that will actually be used and that will reduce congestion and carbon pollution!
Catherine Venz  There is currently no incentive to take public transport. The buses from centenary sit in the same traffic congestion as the cars.
Andrew McGaw  A regular bus service to the city from Seventeen Mile Rocks/ Sinnamon Park is required. A potential option is for a high frequency feeder service a new bus interchange on the old tennis court site adjacent to Genesis gym. Given the good network of cycle infrastructure feeding to this site it could also act as a bus/ bike interchange.
di barber  my daughter and her generation deserves better forms of transport.
Robert McClelland  I Support the petition.
Christine McClelland  I support the petition.
Graham Weston  An inbound bus lane beside the Western Freeway from Waverley Rd overpass would be a simple and quick way to take 10min off the bus trip to the city. If you don\'t make public transport more attractive you can expect more cars and their associated problems
Anna Bourke
Jacqualin Baldwin  Traffic issues in the Jindalee combined areas are rediculous, as are the buses!
Helen Tooth
Matthew Tyler  The M5 is appalling during peak periods, the developments further out on the Centenary Highway are only going to increase the problems, public transport is all but absent - Action needs to be taken now!
Joy Roberts  the congestion in Jindalee in the mornings is unbelievable - 30 mins to gho from Currigundi Rd to the highway at 8am. An the traffic from Ripley is only going to make it worse.
Amanda Mercer
Gary Gibson  Finding it harder and harder to get a park near a train station. Traffic getting worse. Any accidents bring the roads to a stop. Roadworks seem to take forever to complete. I support this petition.
Richard Hancock
Diana Glynn  It is time to address the causes of climate change which cannot be done by building more roads for polluting cars.
Joan Wu  I like to see any smart solutions. The sooner the better.
Jenna Bain  I support this petition. To drive from Jamboree Heights to Indoroopilly normally takes 10/12 minutes - during times of traffic congestion it\'s taken me up to 50 minutes - by either car or bus.
Sean Frazer
Heather Barns  Transport issues need to be addressed in a low pollution, sustainable way that has minimal impact on the natural environment
Christine Bapst  I support the petition as we need more secure car park at Wacol station and more frequent buses in the Sinnamon Park area , at least one route bus from inner side of Sinnamon Park and Riverhills areas to the CBD immediately, were is the Western corridor plan with train and bus lanes? Were is the development at Bullockhead road so dearly recommended by the residents? Were is the T2 lane at the Western freeway? You build an bike overpass at the mount Cootha roundabout as this is the same waste of money as the 2 walking bridges in the city!! Why not have spend the money to accommodate the 2, car and bike? Were are you handling the carbon emissions, as all great cities have tramways/ U-Trains?
Romain Bapst  2 years ago the residents were signing a petition to keep open and to make an overpass when the centenary highway was rebuild at the old Bullockhead road. Also to open the south of spine street to go to Wacol station for the commuter on train. Nothing is done, when again the fantastic road designer will speak to the residents in the area was is the best solution. As we all now the bus to go to the city is the woerst solution as you have to leave home at 6 am to be in the city for 8am as the later buses will never reach the time!! Also to go to the train at Darra with the car will take you 25 minutes at 7.15am, as the bus has to go back to Mount Omnaney!!
Barbara Elaine McPhe
James McPherson
Gillian Duncan  I support the petition.
Laura  Sumners Road, is at a standstill every morning. It can take over 20 minutes to travel 25 metres. We are trapped in our own suburb. Public transport is not an option, it takes far far too long.
Pam Lang  disgraceful traffic at dandenong &sumner roads.
John Lang  been in this address for 38 years.3 exits to Hway then.3now?
gail libman  impossible to get accross the Indoor.bridge in morning, or the freeway.we are trapped.need solutions.
Sophie Moore
Luke Reade  Transport is one of the largest contributers of GHG emissions. Fossil fuel based transport systems also make us increasingly vulnerable to peak oil impacts. All levels of Government need to promote sustainable transport AND remove unsustainable options at the same time. Having both optiona available means people will make the choice perceived to be easiest. BCC needs to follow it own Climate Change and Energy Action Plan.
Lily Yao
J.Romaent  I fully support this pettition and agree with many suggestions such as better public transport and extended bikeways.
Suehyun Park
Kyu Park
Yang Park  For largely spreading cities like Brisbane, we must consider two different principles for transport network building. Public transport network must be aligned towards major work places like major activity centres: i.e. the central area, subcentres and major industrial areas. Road network for private vehicle use is better if aligned between suburbs and for areawide connections but no more for central area oriented network building. If applied in these lines for future transport investment, many of transport problems can be much eased and eventually solved at last. Review present ones and plan anew. Otherwise, just repeating an endless cycle that is showing no any better result.
Min Li  Traffic congestion in the Centenary highway has been getting worse, especially in Jindalee section.
P.Singh  I waste more than 2 hours per day travelling 15km by bus.
IAN GROSVENOR  Traffic Congestion on the Western Freeway is a nightmare - it regularly takes 1.5 hrs to get to the Centre of Brisbane by bus. The Western Suburbs are the \"forgotten\" part of Brisbane - no new bus routes, no initiatives, everything goes to the other suburbs. How about more buses to Darra so that we can use the train? Come on Lord Mayor do something about it!
Joanna Gust
Professor David Gust  Explosive growth in Brisbane\'s southwest makes our current transport services a joke. Fix the problem, don\'t just commission another review to study the problem.
Susan de Weger
Tania Wood
Alex Ng  (1) During the school holidays, the traffic on the Centenary Hwy is okay. But when the school is on, the jam is unbearable Monday to Friday. (2) Buses to Jindalee are limited. Nearest train stations are Oxley, Darra and Indooroopilly. In short, there is little public transport available.
Les Skyring  We should have had a western corridor 20 years ago; we need a busway, smaller and more frequent bus service, motorcycle frendly law reform asap. Continue the development of our bikeways and road corridors.
fei lu  Now there are eastern and Northern Busways, and Southern Bus has been there for years. what about Western Busway???
peng yu  10KM only, but it takes me more than half an hour to travel from Jindalee to Toowong every morning!
Gavin Seipelt  Since Northern Link Tunnel is on the way, there is a clear opportunity to improve public transport for the Western Suburbs. If we are going to spend billions on a new tunnel then there really should be a clear strategy on how this will benefit public transport. It is not good enough for it to be built solely to benefit cars. What I propose is for the eastern end of the tunnel at Kelvin Grove to have a bus only connection to the inner northen busway. Then, from the Western (Toowong)end of the tunnel a busway/ segregated bus lanes can be established along the Centenary Freeway, with stations at Chapel Hill, Kenmore, Jindalee, Mt Ommaney, and Summners Rd. The benefits of this are clear. Buses would be able to service our suburbs, join onto the western freeway/busway, and have a clear run, then run express through the tunnel direct to the city.
Oswel Zeta Salcedo
Erica Jones
Xuguang Liu(Sunny )  We need more buses and more frequent buses in the Sinnamon Park area , at least one rounte bus from inner side of Sinnamon Park to the CBD immediately .Thanks.
Wendy Flannery  The only way for Brisbane to become a truly liveable and civilised city is for public transport to take precedence over private.
Simina Rankin  Maybe a light rail system and a western corridor through the outer western region (for the heavy vehicles that need to get to the Bruce Hwy), accompanied with a reduction in public transport fares would help ease congestion. Safe bikeways could also help. Riding through this beautiful city and its surrounding suburbs should be encouraged.
Peter Smith
Shane Simmons
Thane Richardt  Today I spent 45 minutes on Coronation Drive (of all places!) waiting for 453/454 buses that never arrived. A greater investment in public transport is required. I cannot believe the number of single occupant vehicles on the roads.
Helen Gooderham  The new rail line to Richlands will ease congestion, however, need to co-ordinate shuttle buses running around Forest Lake, Springfield Lakes and Richlands and going to the station. The 600 carparks will become inadequate almost as soon as the station opens with so many feeder suburbs.
Martin Stephenson  We need a better bus to train service. My nearest bus stop is 1.6Km away which makes it practically unusable.
Ian Thomson  Centenary suburbs requires more buses perhaps small buses to railway stn or I\'pilly
Danny Donohue  Free Public Transport!!!
Jeremy Worringham  Also, more bikeways please.
Julie Hagans  Traffic congestion in the west particularly during peak hour is worsening. It is overdue to address these issues and sustainable transport options are the only realistic solution to traffic congestion.
Ben Karnaghan  The buses we have in the Centenary Suburbs are too few in numbers! The amount of times I\'m at Indooroopilly Shops watching the Moggil Buz go past quite often with no passangers, where as we are sometimes unable to get onto the 453/450 in peak hour due to the amount of people on there...
Margaret Miller  Public Transport options are too few to encourage use and the Centenary highway is inadequate
Maureen Todhunter
Sarah Sheridan
Laurel and Ian Macki  We need both an upgrade to the Centenary Fwy AND better public transport. Many people have to use their cars because public transport from our area is so limited--overcrowded buses and trains; poor connections to other buses; and public transport that works only if one is going to and from the city. Public transport needs more capacity (i.e., ability to handle more riders) and flexibility (i.e., ability to use public transport to go someplace besides the city).
Carole Bristow  We need to look to answers that other cities are finding to address this problem that is not ours alone. Growth of population growth is central to the issue.
Charmaine Kwong
Bradley Cox  The conditions on the Centenary highway are absolutely appaling and need immediate attention! Getting onto the freeway at any onramp grinds traffic to a halt. Traffic exiting At Moggil Rd also blocks traffic up back past Mt Ommaney. The 2 roundabouts at Toowong happily finish the job slowing traffic usually back to Moggil Rd. A better on and off ramp system is needed that prevents stoppages because of traffic lights and something has to be done about the Toowong roundabouts. Commuters in the western suburbs can\'t wait and with the continual population growth Brisbane won\'t be such a lovely place to live if these problems aren\'t addressed sooner rather than later.
julie jackson
Steven Schmidt
Rachel Brough  Please put council funding behind your vision of Brisbane as a sustainable city by implementing innovative, sustainable transport options for the Centenary Suburbs. Many of us are eager to embrace active, sustainable transport for our own health and the health of our environment. We need the infrastructure to make such sustainable transport a viable option. More roads seem to beget more congestion, bottlenecks and stressed commuters.
Bronwyn Egan  The current traffic congestion is appalling and is only going to get worse. Something has to be done about it now
Anne Etchells  More bike paths please, especially allowing bikes to cross the Centenary Highway - the traffic makes riding on the roads difficult and dangerous.Getting from e.g. Middle Park to the rail stations by bike or from Oxley to Mt Ommaney shops - not worth the risk at present.
KIm Jenkin

Mark Wotherspoon
Kaylene Wotherspoon
Kaylene Wotherspoon
Jenny Mulkearns
Peter Kuestler  More bike paths please
Charles Brooking  Building endless roads, tunnels, underpasses, and overpasses without attempting to reduce demand is inevitably a short-term solution. Promoting public transport - and active transport - is what we\'ll ultimately need to do, so we should pursue these options now.
john richards
Robyn Mills  sustainable public transport is the solution
Robert Maxwel  How about Brisbane for people not only corporate profits.
mark Brannigan  we need a better solution for getting to Toowong from JIndalee; either road like the Gateway in the West or extra lane on centenary highway including the bridge at Jindalee
isabella matthews
Ratha Ramasamy  Heavy traffic congestion starts at 7 am - 9 am along wesern freeway and milton road - takes 45 min to reach the city from sinnamon park. getting worse with time.
Rebecca Traub  Centenary Hwy congestion heading towards the city every morning - take 50 min to travel from Sinnamon Park to St Lucia, a mere 12 km away - the bottleneck being the centenary hwy roundabout!
Mrs Joan Goode  In the 13 years we have lived in the Centenary Suburbs, the traffic has become so congested that we think twice about travelling on the Centenary Highway/Western Freeway. The \'peak hour\' seems to go for for hours from 5.30 in the morning, causing a bumper to bumper situation every morning, as well as filling the air with petrol fumes. We need a much better system for moving all this slow-moving traffic.
Joy Elcock
Edward Elcock
Bet Gaunt  The constant approval of new sub-divisions in the Western and southern suburbs which use the western Freeway has caused severe congestion on the freeway, in and around it, to the extent that at certain times of the day it can take 50 minutes from Sinnamon Park to Indooroopilly which should not be more than 10 - 15 minutes at most.
ali sehgal
noma sehgal
David Pyle  Let\'s face it - it\'ll lose money hand over fist and ratepayers will have to pick up the tab! Spend the money on something that will improve the city and is also sustainable - public transport!
Sandra Rodgers
fiona semple  deal with the cause, don\'t put money in engineers\' and developers\' pockets at the expense of the communities who put you into office.
Lara Harland  With peak oil looming and climate change issues already upon us we will not be using cars to the same extent in the future it is maddness to keep spending all this money on roads when it should be used on sustainable transport initiatives. It is up to governments to provide some alternative transport options so residents of Brisbane don\'t have to rely so heavily on their cars.
Jessie Wells  Issues of traffic congestion should be addressed with a long-term view, not to merely expand the number of private vehicles on our roads, but rather to reduce car dependency by offering sustainable alternatives.
Tristan Peach  Government plans road tunnel to increase traffic in area. But what we need is for all that money to go into public and active transport solutions to reduce traffic.
Glenda parker  T2 or T3 lanes IMMEDIATELY during peak hours in the peak direction. This will cause extra conjestion in the short term until people respond appropriately by car pooling or using busses.
leanne harvey
Sue Cooke  Maqny people would like to cycle to shops or work, but difficulties of negotiating traffic stop them. More sustainable options please, including bike ways.
kristy walters  More bike lanes!
Renee Hills  What about a light rail system? Anything but more cars.
Robert Standish-Whit  It\'s time Brisbane got serious about mixed, resilient transport solutions with long term affordability. Reliance on private individual vehicles is not the answer.
Mark Taylor  Sustainable Centenary Suburbs!
Ynes Sanz  Surely in this day and age an engineer in local government can see beyond \'roads and bridges\' You are being offered a wonderful opportunity to prove your critics wrong, Campbell, by making your mark through sustainable projects not more monuments.
Eugene Moreau  The lack of action on sustainable transport generally is very disappointing. We behave as if there is no environmental crisis
Garth Henniker  We need sustainable solutions sooner, rather than later.
Jon Bryant  Building more roads only encourages more far use. Always has and always will. Time to take off thecroad solution blinkers Lord Mayor before you bankrupt the City.
Brad Dargusch  More public transport is required in our area, current services are not good or frequent enough.
Noel Morris  Invest in public transport not more roads which only feed car dependancy. This then leads to the need for even roads to respond to congestion. Focus on sustainable transport solutions.
John Ransley  Please think sustainability not more cars and more pollution.
David FREYNE  This is not an impossible job; it simply requires some innovative thinking.
John Perry  Widen the centenary highway? Thats a pipe dream. Rebuild a dozen bridges, resume acres of private land? The cost would be on par with the CLEM7 or the airport link toll roads. Even tunneling has proved a joke. The CLEM7 has just shuffled bottlenecks from one road to others: http://bit.ly/ay6B0u Busway? A dedicated two lane western busway through where? The political ramifications are immense. The only true congestion busting capacity the outer west has: http://bit.ly/bbApDN. Every fifteen minutes a service will have you in town in exactly 25 minutes. For a couple million a year, get the council to subsidize a cityglider-like (http://bit.ly/czhcxn) service terminating at Darra train station.
Justin Stevenson  Please make Brisbane fully accessible with sustainable public transport.
John Lister
Kathryn Healey  Unhappy with level of Council spend on car-based infrastructure.
Russ Anderson  Honourable Lord Mayor, I feel that the time has come and almost gone for thinking of light rail. These can be constructed over and take the same route as some of he roads. Vancouver, Canada had a successful system. Money could be obtained if city bonds were on issue. The cost of use should be kept low to encourage its\' usage and not be in a hurry to have it paid off too soon. Areas of New York and Chicago also have lines suspended over roads. As for cars and trucks etc. if you build roads we will use them therefore give us a better choice. Trains and buses are becoming overcrowded within just a couple of stops from the start of the route. Just a few ideas, Mr Newman
Jane O\'Sullivan  Many millions of dollars have been spent recently on upgrading access to the Centenary Highway, only increasing the traffic load and moving congestion from one point to another. We need real, viable alternatives to single-occupant vehicle travel FIRST. These alternatives must be sustainable in the face of peak oil, and enable people to reduce their environmental impact.
David Weddell
Ruth Zillmann
Fiona Guthrie  I occassionally need to drive along the Centenary Highway for business or personal reasons. Congestion is obvioulsy a growing problem. We definitely need sustainable options, not more roads.
Mary Mannison  we need planning for sustainable transport in all of Brisbane; not more and more provision for cars.
Kate Cranney  Dear Lord Mayor, my name is Kate and I am a fifth year Law and Environmental Science student. I am writing to you, urging you to ensure that sustainable transport options are given primacy in the Western Suburbs and in the greater Brisbane Area. This morning I cycled into work on my bike... I implore you to invest more in bicycle lanes, facilities, education and support in Brisbane. Last year I spent 7 months in Denmark studying at the University of Copenhagen. EVERYONE cycled: 4 year olds to 84 year olds. There are separate bike lanes, respect for cyclers and infrastructure which facilitates greater bike use. I\'m a fairly gutsy young woman, but it still takes some of the wind out of my sails when a big truck passes me by on Park Road... I know the majority of my friends are reluctant to cycle due to concerns about their safety. Please consider the future generations when making transport decisions - not only do we need sustainable transport, we WANT it too. I congratulate you on the bike hire scheme - it is throughout Europe and I think it\'s brilliant. Sustainable transport is popular, healthy, environmental, smart and, frankly, necessary with the imminent onset of peak oil! Thank you, Kate Cranney.
Emma Wical  Make this area a truly great place to live for all the new residents. Provide them with adequate public transport and help in the move away from car-based transport. Buses are already fully to capacity all over the city - this means people will use the facilities once they are in place!
paul grace  Dear Lord Mayor, Brisbane requires a big reduction in greenhouse gas production to deal with climate change. Also we require more exercise to deal with obesity, cancer, heart disease and diabetes.Bike riding is a wonderful solution to boht the health of the planet and the individual.LOrd Mayor please provide infrastructure to encourage people to get out of their cars and start riding. Yours Sincerely, Paul Grace
Philip Machanick  There are 3 reasons to change strategy: 1. building roads doesn\'t solve congestion (ask residents of LA) 2. peak oil: cheap petrol is a thing of the past, and the sooner we stop planning on that basis the better 3. climate change: the science is increasingly looking bleaker; political attacks on scientists don\'t trump laws of physics; see here for example: http://opinion-nation.blogspot.com/2010/04/warmest-year.html
Fiona O\'Sullivan  Lord Mayor, I am excited by your vision of Brisbane becoming Australia\'s most sustainable city. The proposal set out by Sustainable Jamboree and like minded organizations will support you in making that vision a reality rather than just hot air....which is what we\'re all headed for if we don\'t stop encouraging the use of fossil fueled life styles and transport. Please be the visionary you\'re capable of being and take a big leap towards Brisbane\'s sustainable future.
Sally McCreath
Sally McCreath
Michael Carden  WE should be moving away from reliance on cars as a primary form of transport especially in urban/suburban areas
dianne griffin  yes, more roads only invite more cars. public transport is running to capacity--HINT, people will use it. Let\'s build on the 100 year old rail system and add frequent buses/ trams/ metros.
James Kukulies
Daniel Benz
Paul May
Rowan Barber  The Northern Link tunnel is not a solution to pollution or congestion. It just moves the problem somewhere else.
Mark S Burgunder  I get to experience the traffic congestion on a regular level as a BCC bus operator feel that the western suburbs have been left on the way side in respect of public transport improvements.
Sandra Sampson  Fully support this petition
Robert Dow  With the significant residential developments happening along the western corridor it is foolish to think that the problem will be solved by further motor way upgrades. It won\'t. Jindalee and surrounding suburbs have less than ideal public transport options. The failure to push through with the railway from Richlands to Springfield is going to further compound the congestion issues on the highway. There is a need for a busway along the Centenary Highway and Western Freeway. The amplification of the railway line from Corinda to Darra will afford the opportunity for an increase in train frequency. More feeder buses into the new Darra railway station will give access to quick express rail services. The mounting congestion crisis will only be relieved by a combination of strategies. The improved provision of sustainable public transport options will give real choices and help improve the quality of life for all citizens.
John Nightingale  It really is a no-brainer; duplicating the Centenary Mwy will be extremely expensive in resumptions and will only add to the vehicle traffic which will end up clogging up at Toowong and the Normanby, giving all our fat and lazy further excuse to complain.
Ngaire McGaw  Queenslanders have the highest carbon emissions in the world. It\'s time we took an environmentally, economically and socially responsible approach to transport planning - one which helps us preserve the planet and precious oil reserves. Solutions need to appealing not appalling.
Justin Clareburt  I support this petition

Petition 2 – Qld Govt - Centenary Highway Sustainable Transport Options

To: the Honourable Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
