Sustainable Jamboree endeavours to undertake advocacy at every level of decision-making where opportunities arise. Advocacy undertaken aims to be apolitical and based on the available evidence. Volunteers who lead advocacy tasks in Sustainable Jamboree consult with the core group members either via email or at commitee meetings to ensure the advocacy work is as representative of Sustainable Jamboree's goals as possible (refer to 'About us'). Read on for some examples of our advocacy work and input to public consultation opportunities provided by local, state and federal governments. Sustainable Jamboree shows our commitment to advocating for system-level change which would better support individuals and organisations to transition to a low carbon economy. Examples of early advocacy work include conducting pre-election forums to help inform voters of sustainability issues worth considering when casting votes. |
